Ms. Wendy Kroeker, a senior consultant at PeaceBuilders Community, held a public forum in Davao City last 13 May 2016. Her presentation was entitled Philippine Peacebuilders: Building Strategies and Hope.
The forum was organized as part of Wendy’s Ph.D. dissertation, wherein she was able to interview local actors from the peacebuilding community on how they were able to explore various ways in building a culture of peace in Mindanao. The event was her way of giving back to the local community where she had successfully conducted her fieldwork as well as an opportunity to provide space for local actors—the interviewees—to share their stories and learnings on how they do and advance peace in the country and region.
Wendy also shared the summary and findings of her research. Specifically, the forum —
- highlighted the role of local actors engaged in efforts of peace and security in Mindanao;
- highlighted the lessons learned in the work of enhancing a culture of peace; and,
- provided networking opportunities for peacemakers involved in peacebuilding in the region.
The venue of the event was at the Training Room, Xavier Hall, 8th Floor, Community Center of the First Companions, Ateneo de Davao University, Roxas Blvd., Davao City, Philippines.
The Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute along with the Community Engagement Office and Al Qalam Institute of the Ateneo de Davao University co-sponsored this event.
