FAITH FOR JUSTICE, PEOPLE FOR TRANSFORMATION: A CALL FROM THE ‘WHITE RIBBON MOVEMENT’

At a time when many Filipinos are yearning for trustworthy leadership, accountable governance, and genuine social transformation, PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. joins the White Ribbon Movement’s call for a national gathering under the banner, Faith for Justice, People for Transformation. We believe that the challenges confronting our nation—corruption, inequality, abuse of power, and deep social divisions—cannot be resolved through political solutions alone. They demand moral courage, spiritual integrity, and the active engagement of citizens committed to the common good. As a peacebuilding organization, we affirm the vital role of faith communities in advancing justice, nurturing ethical leadership, and fostering unity amid diversity. We stand in solidarity with people of conscience from various religious, cultural, and social backgrounds who envision a Philippines where truth, accountability, compassion, and respect for human dignity form the foundation of a just, democratic, and peaceful society.

We affirm the call of the Inter-Religious Leaders Council for National Transformation

As a community of peacebuilders committed to justice, reconciliation, and social transformation, PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. affirms the call of the Inter-Religious Leaders Council for National Transformation for a “Faith for Justice, People for Transformation” gathering. We view this initiative not merely as a public assembly, but as a moral and spiritual invitation for Filipinos from diverse faith traditions, cultures, and sectors to stand together in pursuit of accountability, integrity, and the dignity of every human being.

We believe that authentic faith must find expression beyond personal spirituality. Faith becomes meaningful when it is embodied in love for neighbor, solidarity with the marginalized, responsible stewardship of power, and active commitment to the common good. Across our various faith traditions, prophetic voices consistently remind us that justice is indispensable to peace, that leadership is a sacred trust, and that corruption and abuse of power erode the foundations of a healthy society.

We affirm that transformation begins when people of conscience come together across religious, cultural, ethnic, and social boundaries. Diversity should not be a source of division; rather, it should become a strength that enables collective action toward a society where human dignity is protected, justice is accessible, and every Filipino can flourish in hope and peace.

PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. stands in solidarity with all individuals, organizations, and faith communities seeking peaceful, democratic, and justice-centered transformation in our nation. We pray that this movement will inspire reflection that leads to action, conviction that leads to service, and faith that becomes a living force for justice, reconciliation, and lasting peace.

We Support the White Ribbon Movement

PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. expresses its support for the White Ribbon Movement in the Philippines as a meaningful expression of the people’s moral conscience and democratic responsibility. For us, the white ribbon is more than a symbol. It is a public witness calling for truth, transparency, accountability, justice, and the transformation of a society wounded by corruption, impunity, abuse of power, and persistent social inequalities.

As a peacebuilding organization, we understand that peace is more than the absence of armed conflict or political tension. Genuine peace requires the presence of justice, the protection of human dignity, and the transformation of systems that perpetuate suffering, exclusion, and hopelessness. A nation cannot experience lasting peace when public trust is eroded by corruption, when the vulnerable are neglected, and when those entrusted with public office evade accountability.

We recognize the White Ribbon Movement as a broad civic effort that brings together people from diverse sectors—including faith communities, civil society organizations, human rights advocates, families affected by injustice, and concerned citizens—around shared aspirations for democratic renewal. Among the movement’s key calls are:

  1. Accountability for all leaders and public officials, regardless of political affiliation, including both the Marcos and Duterte camps;
  2. The enactment and implementation of a genuine Anti-Dynasty Law that strengthens democratic participation; and
  3. Meaningful electoral reforms that uphold transparency, fairness, and the integrity of democratic institutions.

These aspirations resonate with the values that guide our peacebuilding work. Across many faith traditions, prophetic voices have consistently challenged abuses of power, defended the dignity of marginalized communities, and called societies to higher standards of justice and ethical responsibility. The pursuit of accountability is not an expression of hostility toward individuals. Rather, it is an expression of care for society, because justice protects communities, restores trust, and helps prevent future harm.

The white ribbon, standing apart from the colors and loyalties of political dynasties and partisan interests, serves as a reminder that silence in the face of injustice allows broken systems to endure. Wearing it can signify a commitment not only to challenge what is wrong but also to help build what is right: a Philippines characterized by integrity, compassion, democratic participation, justice, and sustainable peace.

PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. therefore stands in solidarity with all Filipinos who seek truth, accountability, and transformative change through peaceful and democratic means. We encourage citizens to participate responsibly in public life, to uphold ethical leadership, and to become active peacebuilders working for the common good. Together, let us nurture a nation where justice strengthens peace, where truth guides public discourse, and where leadership is measured by service to the people.
