Peace Builders Community, Inc. strongly supports Sec. Teresita “Ging” Deles, and calls on the majority members of the Congress to act like a solid majority and support Sec. Deles to continue as the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process. We believe that she is sincere in her intentions with all the people concerned in implementing President Aquino’s Peace Policy.

The Peacebuilders Community, Inc. (PBCI) is a faith-based peace building organization in Davao City that exists to: (a) equip Peace and Reconciliation (PAR) Team leaders; (b) organize and train PAR teams; (c) establish contextually-relevant PAR communities; and, (d)developnetwork of PAR communities to train more leaders, organize more teams and establish more communities.

We believe that Sec. Ging Deles is very suitable and credible in her position, and she is not new in the arena of peace building. She has been actively involved in peace and advocacy work since 1981 and has gained deep respect in the Philippines as an NGO leader. After the People Power Revolt in 1986, she co-founded the Coalition for Peace, a citizen’s peace assembly. In 1988, she was a co-convener for the International Conference on Conflict Resolution in the Philippines. She also became the Lead Convener of the National Anti-Poverty Commission in 2001 until 2003, and was appointed as the OPAPP Secretary under the Arroyo administration in 2003 until 2005.

As a peace building organization, we take a stand in supporting her and we urge the Filipino people to work together and share the same vision of attaining genuine peace in our country.

Again, PeaceBuilders Community, a Mindanao-based organization that works for genuine peace and reconciliation in this nation, express our support to retain Sec. Deles as the Secretary of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.
