The 2nd Anniversary of the IP-Moro Kinship Reaffirmation coincided with the 2014 International Women’s Day. We celebrated both significant events on 08 March 2014, Talaandig Ancestral Territory, Mount Kitanglad, Bukidnon.
For the past three years, we have witnessed the growing and deepening re-affirmation of kinship between the Bangsamoro and the Indigenous People of Mindanao.
It was in 07-08 March 2012 when the Indigenous People and the Bangsamoro first thought of re-affirming their kinship as part of their centuries old peace pact and a continuing peace process among the First Nations of Mindanao. We were invited to document the event.
Throughout these years, we, at Peacebuilders Community and Coffee For Peace, have also learned a lot about indigenous conflict transformation processes from these people. We even formalized our peacebuilding partnership with the Talaandig people.
Last Saturday, 08 March 2014, we witnessed again the re-affirmation of this beautiful IP-Moro kinship. It was organized by Datu Migketay Saway Victorino and by Mindanao Peoples Caucus. We praise the Creator for all these generous permission by these people groups — both the Islamized and Non-Islamized Indigenous Peoples of Mindanao — to allow us to journey with them as we all seek genuine just-peace in Mindanao.
Datu Migketay Saway summed up the whole event: “Nasisiyahan ang Dios sa atin” (God is pleased/happy with us!).
