CLARK DECLARATION: PCEC 29TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. (PBCI) is a signatory of this statement. We sense that God is moving the Church in the Philippines, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to help in the transformation of our land and people towards peace, justice, and righteousness.

PBCI will specifically contribute peace and reconciliation training among church groups and organizations in partnership with the Peace and Reconciliation Commission of PCEC.

We, Bishops, Pastors and leaders representing 71 denominations, comprising over 30,000 local churches, and 188 para-church organizations of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC), gathered in Clark Field, Pampanga, to respond to the Scriptural mandate for “churches to transform communities,” hereby declare the following:

We affirm that God’s eternal purpose, especially His redemptive agenda on earth which He accomplished in Christ Jesus, is being carried out through the Church, the expression of His manifold wisdom.

We recognize that our transformative calling demands churches and leaders to model the virtues of humility, integrity and simplicity.

Therefore, we earnestly ask God to make us the Church that He meant us to be — indwelt by the power of the Spirit, rooted in God’s Word grounded in Christ’s love, and filled with the fullness of God. (Eph. 3:16-19).

We resolve to walk in humility and reject the idolatry of power; walk in integrity and reject the idolatry of success; and walk in simplicity and reject the idolatry of greed.

We declare our commitment to partner with all stakeholders to attain equitable and sustainable peace; to promote spiritual values formation; to advocate good governance; and to seek the alleviation of poverty in our land.

We will work to equip and empower our churches to be sensitive to the needs of our immediate communities and to efficiently and effectively utilize God’s resources to creatively respond to those needs.

We reaffirm our commitment to work together for the transformation of our nation, through the discipling of our people and the mentoring of leaders until we realize a Philippines where peace, justice and righteousness reign, where everyone has a decent standard of living and where Jesus Christ is recognized as Lord of all.

We will do all these relying on God who is able to do far more abundantly than all we can ask or imagine, and giving Him all the glory and honor.
